Armenian police urge protesters to respect law
Armenian police call on protesters to respect the law and comply with police requests.
Protesters led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan on Thursday flocked to Republic Square outside the Armenian government headquarters where Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was chairing a weekly cabinet meeting. They also blocked traffic in the area with their cars.
“Some participants of a rally being held in Republic Square hit police officers,” a police statement said.
“Police continue to fulfill their legal duties and any illegal action will receive appropriate legal response. We urge the protesters to abide by the law and comply with police orders,” it added.
