Varuzhan Geghamyan: Turkey, Azerbaijan fear change of power in Armenia
The recurring statements in support of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s government from Turkey and Azerbaijan indicate their clear understanding of the ongoing developments in the country, Varuzhan Geghamyan, a geopolitical strategist and regional security expert, told Panorama.am on Friday as joined a march led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan in central Yerevan.
“The two countries realize that in case of a change of government in Armenia when national forces come to power, they will face problems promoting their interests in the region,” the expert stated.
“In other words, Turkey and Azerbaijan will lose the opportunities they have today because Armenia is not showing any resistance, allowing Turkey and Azerbaijan to become the leading force in the region. In fact, Ankara and Baku fear that a change of power in Armenia would put an end to it,” Geghamyan said.
