Opposition MP decries 'climate of impunity' in Armenia
Opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan has hit out at Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s government for the “climate of impunity” in the country promoting police violence against protesters.
“Some police officers deployed outside the Investigative Committee complained about disrespectful remarks on police actions made by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan and his supporters,” the MP of the Pativ Unem faction wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.
“Can you believe they are surprised? During police operations, many of you used brute force against people and insulted them in violation of legal and moral norms, thinking that you could get away with it.
“The climate of impunity which the government created and put on the police as a bulletproof vest will not go without consequences,” Abrahamyan wrote.
