Foreign Ministry official declines to comment on appointment of ambassador to Russia
Armenian Foreign Ministry Secretary General David Karapetyan on Tuesday refused to comment on the possible appointment of pro-government MP Gurgen Arsenyan as Armenian ambassador to Russia.
Citing its sources, the Hraparak daily reported that Russia had endorsed Arsenyan’s appointment to the post.
Talking to journalists in the parliament, Karapetyan highlighted that the process of granting agréments to officials was confidential. He said an official statement would be issued in case of Arsenyan's appointment as Armenian ambassador to Russia.
In response to a question about what they discussed at a bilateral meeting, Karapetyan said: “We are friends with Mr. Arsenyan, we discussed work-related issues and other matters."
