Protest movement in Armenia entered 'decisive stage', leader says
Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan is leading a motorcade rally from Yerevan to the town of Vardenis in Armenia’s Gegharkunik Province.
A rally is scheduled to be held in the border community of Sotk on Wednesday evening.
People warmly welcomed the archbishop and his supporters near the town of Hrazdan.
Speaking to reporters ahead of the rally, Galstanyan stated that the Tavush for the Homeland protest movement led by him was a “stark warning” of the threats facing Armenia.
He again called out Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s government for unilateral territorial concessions to Azerbaijan and insisted on his ouster.
“They only seek to cling on to power and don’t care about the country and its people. The visit to Vardenis is aimed at casting light on the current situation and the further developments,” the cleric said.
He highlighted the rally planned in Yerevan on June 9 as “crucial”.
“The movement has entered the third and decisive stage striving for changes,” the protest leader added.
