Kate Middleton 'may never' return to her previous royal role
Kate Middleton’s role within the British royal family may look a bit different following her cancer diagnosis and treatment, Page Six reports.
The Princess of Wales, who was once front and center with husband Prince William on royal engagements, “may never come back in the role that people saw her in before,” an insider told Us Weekly Tuesday.
The source added that she is “re-evaluating what she’s going to be able to take on when she comes back” after undergoing preventive chemotherapy treatments for her cancer.
Furthermore, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams noted that when Middleton is able to return to her royal duties, “it will be [based] on medical advice, and it will be very carefully balanced.”
Page Six reached out to Kensington Palace for comment and did not immediately hear back.
The report comes after a source told the Daily Beast that she may not appear publicly as a working royal for the remainder of 2024.
Middleton, 42, has stayed largely out of the public eye since January, when she underwent a “planned” abdominal surgery, after which she was diagnosed with cancer.
The royal family remained quiet about her health as conspiracy theories about her wellbeing, cheating allegations and divorce speculation ran rampant.
She cleared the air on March 22 when she revealed her absence had been due to a recent cancer diagnosis. She did not disclose which type of cancer she has.
“This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” she said in a video recorded without the Prince of Wales, 41.
She and Wiliam share three kids: Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 6.
