Archbishop Bagrat: We seek real and unshakable peace
The Tavush for the Homeland protest movement seeks a real negotiation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, says its leader Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan.
"Currently, there are no negotiations as such amid coercion and threat of force. And all this in no way can serve as a basis for peace,” the archbishop said in an interview on Saturday.
According to him, after 2020, the war “has not stopped for a moment, it continues uninterruptedly.”
"And so long as the current government rules Armenia, the war will continue. Some call what is happening a creeping expansion given the developments in Tavush. Naturally our desire is to put an end to the war, to start a real peace process, not an imitation of peace,” the cleric stated.
“We seek to stop the war and achieve a real and unshakable peace. We’ve come to establish peace and put a halt to destructive wars,” he added.
At the same time, Galstanyan brushed aside the claims that the current government sought a change of its political vector.
"Our goal is to build sustainable, reliable, long-term, positive and constructive relations with all partners based on a pro-Armenian agenda. All our actions should promote the interests of Armenia and the Armenian people,” he noted.
