More protesters gather outside Armenian parliament ahead of sitting
More people on Monday joined protesters camping in tents near the Armenian parliament on Baghramyan Avenue ahead of the National Assembly Council sitting, heeding a call from Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan.
Among other issues, the meeting is expected to address the opposition factions' request for a special parliament session on the government's resignation and the formation of an interim government.
Addressing a rally in Yerevan’s Republic Square on Sunday, Galstanyan announced the start of four days of nonstop street protests to drive Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan from office.
Demonstrators led by the cleric marched to the Armenian parliament late on Sunday. Many of them spent the night on Baghramyan Avenue, setting up tents there.
