Japanese violinist wins Khachaturian International Competition
Japanese violinist Tomotaka Seki has won the top prize at the 20th Khachaturian International Competition.
Sergei Mkrtchian of Russia came in second, while Japan’s Rio Arai finished third, the Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports reported on Friday.
The first prize winner was awarded a cash prize of $10,000. The latter also gets an opportunity to perform a concert with an orchestra during the 2025-2026 concert season.
The second-placed violinist was awarded $5,000 and the third-prize winner $3,000.
