Lawyer accuses Armenian government of repression after search at GG office
Human rights lawyer Ruben Melikyan accused the Armenian government of repression following a search at the office of GG, an online taxi service provider, in Yerevan on Saturday.
“The search at the GG office is no coincidence. This is outright repression,” he told reporters.
The lawyer pointed to the campaign against the taxi service launched by the Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper owned by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s family after its founder Khachatur Grigoryan expressed support for the Tavush for the Homeland protest movement.
“Pashinyan’s family newspaper on Friday urged a boycott of the GG services just because its founder expressed his opinion on the ongoing public processes in the country, without insulting anyone or calling for violence,” Melikyan added.
