Armenia's Mirzoyan meets with Belarusian opposition leader
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has met with Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya.
In a post on X on Thursday, Tsikhanouskaya said she was greatly honored to meet Mirzoyan in Vilnius.
“I thanked Armenia for its firm stance against Lukashenka's regime & expressed hope for continued close cooperation between Armenia & our democratic forces. The people of Armenia & Belarus deserve a free, democratic & European future,” the politician wrote.
Addressing the parliament last week, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that no Armenian officials would visit Belarus so long as its leader Alexander Lukashenko remained in power.
Pashinyan said that Yerevan would leave the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) after accusing its members, which include Belarus, of having plotted with Azerbaijan to start a war against Armenia.
