Russian deputy PM warns against presence of 'extra-regional actors' in Armenia
The Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and the European Union are incompatible, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk says, warning against Armenia’s possible accession to the EU.
"Of course, speaking about Armenia, it is impossible to turn a blind eye to the fact that currently, as they say, the political vector of this country is pivoting more and more towards the West," TASS quoted him as saying on Tuesday.
“The European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union are incompatible. And the benefits that some country gets from proximity to Russia should also be viewed as the price we pay for our security and strategic depth, so the entry of some extra-regional actors there will, of course, have consequences,” Overchuk added.
