Armenia proposed Azerbaijan to sign peace deal in one month, security chief says
Armenia is ready to sign a peace treaty with Azerbaijan as soon as possible, Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan said.
“We’ve recently proposed Azerbaijan to sign the peace agreement within one month,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the 2024 APRI Forum on Wednesday.
Asked whether the installation of border pillars following the delimitation and demarcation in Tavush Province has enhanced security there, the official said: “We believe the delimitation process in Tavush brings more stability, but a peace deal is needed to ensure complete stability and rule out any escalation.”
He highlighted that the border delimitation process was carried out in stages.
“It’s impossible to delimit the entire border right away. It’s based on the 1976 map,” Grigoryan stated.
The security chief said that Armenia had received Azerbaijan’s response to its latest proposals regarding the draft peace treaty.
“The 10th package of peace treaty proposals has been submitted to us and we are working on it currently,” the official added.
