Iranian envoy hails Armenia's recognition of Palestine
Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani on Friday lauded Armenia’s decision to recognize the State of Palestine as a “courageous step”.
Armenia officially recognized the Palestinian state on 21 June.
“We don’t recognize the infanticidal Zionist regime. Emphasizing our principled position, we welcome Armenia’s decision to recognize the State of Palestine," the diplomat told reporters.
"This courageous and positive step taken by Armenia indicates that the international community truly values the rights of the Palestinian people and opposes their violation by the Zionist regime," he said.
Sobhani stated that countries supporting Palestine and the rights of its people “are on the right side of history.”
"The crimes committed by the Zionist regime against the Palestinian people are known to the whole world. However, the countries that remain silent in the face of these crimes, which include the use of phosphorus munitions killing children, are complicit in them,” the Iranian envoy added.
