Armenia-Azerbaijan talks a priority for U.S. – State Dept
U.S. State Department deputy spokesperson Vedant Patel commented on possible talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the sidelines of the upcoming NATO summit in Washington.
The Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers have been invited to the NATO summit scheduled for July 9-11.
At a press briefing on Tuesday, Patel reiterated the U.S. support for engagements between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“Let me just say broadly in the context of the issue in the South Caucasus, this is a priority for us, a priority for the Secretary and other officials across this department. I have no doubt that it’s something we’ll continue to work towards. Specific meetings and engagements on the margins of the summit – I just don’t want to speak to the schedule yet,” the spokesman said.
