Actor Samvel Topalyan receives dismissal letter after Goy Theater merger
Popular stage and screen actor Samvel Topalyan says he has received a letter of dismissal from Yerevan’s Goy Theater after its merger into another theater.
In a social media post on Monday, Topalyan said the letter described him as a “first-class actor”.
“Now is that good or bad? Especially since you find out about it at dismissal as it didn't matter before,” he wrote.
The Armenian government decided to merge the Goy Theater into the Gabriel Sundukyan State Academic Theater in Yerevan, a move strongly opposed by the Goy staff who challenged the decision in court.
Goy actor Ashot Ter-Matevosyan told Panorama.am last week that none of his fellow actors signed a contract with the Sundukyan State Academic Theater.
