Armenian FM engages with foreign counterparts in Washington
On July 9, on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Washington, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan participated in an event dedicated to “Women, peace and security”.
During the event, Mirzoyan had engagements with U.S. colleagues and counterparts from other countries, including the foreign ministers of Sweden, Greece, Belgium, Slovakia, Netherlands, Czechia, Canada, Montenegro, Bahrain, Georgia and Bahrein, the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.
"Armenia is committed to efforts for advancing the role of women in peace and security. The second National Action Plan on “Women, peace and security” is currently being implemented. Among others, it prioritizes addressing issues such as increased involvement of women in the armed forces and police system, in cyber security programs and peacekeeping missions, upholding the protection of the social and economic rights of women and girls as well as protection of rights of forcibly displaced women from Nagorno-Karabakh," the ministry said.
