Armenian MP brushes aside EU membership talk
Opposition lawmaker Tigran Abrahamyan on Wednesday voiced misgivings about the idea of Armenia’s accession to the European Union, accusing Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s government of “misleading” the people.
“Those who brought the issue to the political agenda know perfectly well that it’s not among the EU’s priorities,” the MP wrote on Facebook.
Abrahamyan dismissed the “false promises of investments worth billions of dollars from Europe and visa free travel”, calling the EU membership talk part of the “anti-Russian policy” encouraged by Pashinyan’s government.
“In yet another big bluff, the authorities seek to mislead the public and carefully cover up the major problems,” he wrote.
