CDI calls for Armen Ashotyan's immediate release
The Centrist Democrat International (IDC-CDI) calls for the immediate and unconditional release of opposition politician Armen Ashotyan, deputy chair of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).
"The Centrist Democrat International continues to follow with concern the Armenian authorities' politically-motivated persecution of opposition figures. We call upon the government to end all forms of political persecution against opposition politicians and activists," the group said in a statement on Wednesday.
"We urgently demand the immediate and unconditional release of the Vice Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia, Mr. Ashotyan. A fair, transparent and independent judicial process is essential to ensure that justice prevails," it added.
