Russia 'concerned' about expansion of EU mission in Armenia
Russia is “concerned” about the expansion of the EU mission's activities in Armenia, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin told RIA Novosti on Friday, adding that Canada’s involvement in it confirms “NATO's penetration into the South Caucasus.”
"We disapprove the activities of the EU mission in Armenia, as we have repeatedly announced," he said.
According to Galuzin, the EU's task is to try to gain a foothold in the South Caucasus in a blow to the interests of the regional countries.
Moscow is also concerned that the mission could turn from temporary to permanent, the deputy minister added.
"Moreover, in April this year Canadian representatives joined the mission, which indicates the creeping penetration of NATO into the South Caucasus," Galuzin emphasized.
