Opposition leader accuses U.S. of 'democratic racism' against Armenia
Opposition leader Andranik Tevanyan accused the United Stated of “democratic racism” against Armenia following U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller’s latest statement on the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process.
"We do think a deal is possible, but it requires both sides to make some difficult choices and tough compromises, and so what we’re going to do is continue to push them to resolve those final differences and reach an agreement," Miller told a press briefing on Monday.
In a social media post on Tuesday, Tevanyan, the leader of the Mother Armenia alliance, claimed that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was being pushed to make new unilateral concessions to Azerbaijan which “will not lead to peace.”
He stated that the international community promised Pashinyan to “turn a blind eye to his efforts to build a police state and human rights abuses” in Armenia in return for concessions.
“The U.S. is using “democratic racism” against Armenia. Washington just seeks to squeeze Russia out of the region. Artsakh was the price until the fall of 2023. Now it’s Armenia's turn,” Tevanyan wrote.
