Opposition MP: Armenian people being prepared for fresh concessions
Opposition lawmaker Tigran Abrahamyan on Tuesday deplored U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller’s latest statement on the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process.
"We do think a deal is possible, but it requires both sides to make some difficult choices and tough compromises, and so what we’re going to do is continue to push them to resolve those final differences and reach an agreement," Miller told a press briefing on Monday.
"Over the past six years, Armenia made major concessions, faced war, aggression, pressure, threats, blackmail and suffered colossal casualties and territorial losses, but it turns out that the country is still expected to make difficult choices and tough compromises,” Abrahamyan wrote on Facebook.
“Is this the international perception of peace? And in such conditions Pashinyan’s government is trying to convince the people that it’s leading the country to peace, whereas the public is being prepared for new concessions through international actors' efforts,” he added.
