Boxer Davit Chaloyan named Armenia's flag-bearer at Olympics opening ceremony
Superheavyweight boxer Davit Chaloyan has been named Armenia’s flag-bearer at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics on July 26.
His candidacy was approved at a meeting of the Armenian National Olympic Committee on Tuesday, the sports ministry reported.
Chaloyan, a silver medalist of the 2021 AIBA World Boxing Championships and a bronze medalist of the World Military Boxing Championship, will participate in the Olympic Games for the first time in his career.
The Armenian team also includes shooter Elmira Karapetyan, gymnasts Artur Davtyan and Vahagn Davtyan, Greco-Roman wrestlers Artur Aleksanyan, Malkhas Amoyan, Slavik Galstyan, freestyle wrestlers Arsen Harutyunyan and Vazgen Tevanyan, weightlifters Andranik Karapetyan, Garik Karapetyan and Varazdat Lalayan, swimmers Varsenik Manucharyan and Artur Barseghyan and athlete Yervand Mkrtchyan.
