Iranian envoy: Next 3+3 meeting to be held in Turkey soon
The next meeting of foreign ministers in the 3+3 format, which includes Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Russia, Turkey and Georgia, will be held in Turkey in the near future, Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani told Iran's SNN news agency.
“We support the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and Armenia and oppose any border and geopolitical changes in the South Caucasus. Regional security and stability is in Iran’s interests and we’re ready to contribute to it,” the diplomat remarked.
Sobhani highlighted that Tehran hosted the first meeting of five foreign ministers in the 3+3 format without Georgia’s participation in October 2023, adding that another meeting was scheduled to be held in Turkey anytime soon.
Separately, the diplomat underscored the importance of Armenia's Syunik Province for Iran.
“This is a strategic region that plays a major role in ensuring security and trade between Iran and Armenia,” the envoy said.
