Opposition MP: Pashinyan preparing people for 'new disaster through bicycle diplomacy'
Opposition lawmaker Tigran Abrahamyan has reacted to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s latest demand for Armenia to ensure the “safe return of ethnic Azerbaijanis to Western Azerbaijan” referring to modern-day Armenian territory.
In a social media post on Tuesday, the MP called out Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s government for failure to adequately respond to false Azeri propaganda narratives and accused the premier of preparing the Armenian people for a “new disaster through bicycle diplomacy”.
He pointed to Baku’s efforts to make the “repatriation of Azerbaijanis” a key agenda item in the peace process with Armenia.
“The Armenian government’s political timidity and inadequate response to the situation have led to the fact that Azerbaijani propaganda tricks, which were ridiculous, unserious and unpromising a few years ago, are turning into political demands,” Abrahamyan wrote.
“The Armenian leader is preparing the public for a new disaster through his 'bicycle diplomacy',” he added.
