Iran reiterates opposition to 'Zangezur corridor'
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Tuesday had a meeting with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran.
Khamenei reiterated Tehran’s opposition to the so-called “Zangezur corridor" linking Azerbaijan to Nakhichevn through Armenian territory, the Mehr news agency reported.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran considers the "Zangezur Corridor" to be detrimental to Armenia's interests," the supreme leader said.
The Armenian government said in a statement that Khamenei thanked Pashinyan for visiting Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected Iranian president.
The two leaders expressed their belief that Armenia and Iran will continue to take steps towards the development of warm and friendly relations for the benefit of the progress of both states and peoples.
