Armenian customs officers foil large diamond smuggling attempt

Customs officers at Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport have intercepted a large diamond smuggling attempt from the UAE.

Undeclared gems weighing 244 grams and worth over ֏8,000,000 ($20,000) were found during the search of a passenger's baggage on a Sharjah-Yerevan flight, the State Revenue Committee reported on Friday.

The Investigation Committee is dealing with the case.
