Four Azeris injured in landmine explosion near Armenian border
Four Azerbaijani servicemen have been injured following explosion of landmines in the border areas of Armenia's Tavush Province ceded to Baku as part of a border delimitation deal.
Citing a joint statement by the country's Prosecutor General's Office, State Border Service and Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA), Azeri media reports claimed on Friday that as a result of the incident, Border Service warrant officer Khayal Ahadli and ANAMA employee Afig Mekhdizade sustained leg injuries from an anti-personnel mine explosion while performing demining duties. The agency employees, Elchin Alakbarov and Yavar Mirzayev, received shrapnel injuries.
"The injured were immediately hospitalized, and their lives are out of danger," the statement said, adding an investigation into the incident was underway.
