Artsakh man beaten by police rearrested
Aram Yeritsyan, an Artsakh Armenian beaten up by patrol police officers while being arrested for illegally parking his car in Yerevan last week, has been rearrested to appear in court.
His brother, lawyer Roman Yeritsyan, said on Wednesday that a first instance court in Yerevan was to hear a motion for his detention.
The lawyer accused police officers of assaulting and pepper spraying his brother, stating that he sustained hand and head injuries.
The Interior Ministry rejected the claims of police violence against the Artsakh man as "obvious lies". In response, Roman Yeritsyan published bodycam footage from one of the arresting police officers showing his brother’s mistreatment.
The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction on Sunday rejected a request to remand Aram Yeritsyan in custody and ruled his arrest illegal.
