Removal of transport links provision from Armenian-Azeri peace deal raises questions, MP says
The removal of a provision concerning the unblocking of regional transport links from the draft peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan to refer to it at a later time raises many questions, says Tigran Abrahamyan of the opposition Pativ Unem faction.
"Originally, the “peace treaty” comprised three key provisions, including the Artsakh issue, unblocking of regional communications and border delimitation/demarcation,” he wrote on Facebook on Friday.
“The two key provisions have now been excluded from the draft agreement, while the negotiations largely focus on the border delimitation. If the document on the normalization of relations fails to address the fundamental issues on the bilateral agenda, what’s the point of signing an agreement in one form or another?
“In other words, is it all about signing a formal document or are there other issues hidden below the ice sheet?" Abrahamyan noted.
