Armenian company caught recovering inedible chicken after disposal
The State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia caught a company recovering a batch of poultry unfit for consumption after its official disposal.
The SRC reported on Friday that its officials recently participated in the destruction of 13.5 tons of chicken belonging to the Brothers Armen-Hamik company.
The procedure was carried out in the village of Kotayk in Kotayk Province, based on a relevant order issued by the Food Safety Inspectorate. The goods were disposed through burial.
However, a SRC monitoring revealed that after the burial of the unfit products employees of the company had returned to the burial site, unearthed the poultry using special equipment and transferred it back to the company's warehouse.
During the investigation, SRC officials discovered the recovered goods stored in the warehouse refrigerators of the company, with soil remnants visible on the packages.
The SRC collected samples and filed a report to Armenia's Investigative Committee.
