Artur Aleksanyan's Olympics final results appealed
The Armenian Wrestling Federation has appealed Artur Aleksanyan's final match results at the Paris 2024 Olympics, citing bias against the Armenian athlete, the sports ministry reports.
Aleksanyan lost the men's Greco-Roman 97kg final to Iran’s Mohammad Hadi Saravi 1-4 and took the silver medal on Wednesday.
A second silver was not anything Aleksanyan desired after winning a gold at Rio 2016 and bronze at London 2012.
Aleksanyan claimed that referees were biased against him during the final bout and expressed hope that justice would be restored.
He stated that similar incidents happened with wrestlers Slavik Galstyan and Arsen Harutyunyan, who were also unfairly treated.
Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Karen Giloyan expressed the government's readiness to join the appeal.
