Analyst warns of 'total governance crisis' in Armenia
Political analyst Suren Surenyants has warned of a “total crisis of governance” in Armenia amid frequent power outages which forced the Armenian National Opera and Ballet Theater to cancel a performance recently.
"Power cuts spoiled a performance at the National Opera and Ballet Theater in Yerevan. This is a disgrace, especially since foreign artists on tour in Yerevan are also facing its consequences,” he wrote on Facebook on Saturday.
“Blackouts in Yerevan have become commonplace for several months now. Figuratively speaking, half of the city has no power supply, while the other half has no water supply,” the analyst said, adding the competent agencies are shifting the responsibility onto each other.
“However, there is a growing opinion that the country is facing a total governance crisis. And it is impossible to ensure local progress in different spheres until it’s not eliminated,” Surenyants added.
