Armenia’s Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan issued a congratulatory message on International Youth Day celebrated annually on 12 August. Her full message is provided below.

"Dear young people,

August 12 is International Youth Day.

I sincerely congratulate you on this bright day.

Smart, educated, proactive, determined and active youth is one of the cornerstones of the development of any state.

Your potential must be valued, and the protection and realization of your rights must be guaranteed by the state. I am sure that the participation of young people in various spheres of public life should be promoted with even greater enthusiasm.

Issues related to young people are in the center of my daily attention.

In that regard, I highly value the activity of the Public Council on the rights of Children and Youth adjunct to the Human Rights Defender, the purpose and tasks of which are to support the Defender in the development of cooperation with children and youth, to contribute to the raising of issues related to the protection of their rights.

Dear young people,

I heartily congratulate you on International Youth Day and wish you to constantly improve as an individual, citizen and professional."
