
Anti-government protesters go on trial in Armenia
Yerevan’s Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction on Monday began the trial of sixteen anti-government protesters.
Fifteen of them have been charged with hooliganism, while another with involvement in a mass riot at a protest demanding Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s ouster outside the Armenian parliament on 12 June.
Four defendants have been remanded in custody, while eight others are placed under house arrest.
The presiding judge is Aramayis Asatryan.
Riot police used stun grenades to disperse the demonstrators outside the parliament, injuring dozens of protesters as well as journalists.
