Opposition MP deplores decision to appoint U.S. resident adviser to Armenian military
Opposition Pativ Unem faction head Hayk Mamijanyan has expressed discontent with the decision to appoint a U.S. resident adviser to the Armenian Defense Ministry, claiming that it “runs counter to Armenia’s security architecture”.
Speaking to reporters after a court hearing in a case against RPA Deputy Chairman Armen Ashotyan on Thursday, Mamijanyan pointed to Iran’s strong opposition to it.
He accused Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of dragging Armenia into geopolitical confrontations in yet another “adventurous move” amid heightened tensions.
“He is ready for everything, including ceding lands and putting Armenia at risk, to maintain his grip on power and please geopolitical centers. It’s not the first time that Pashinyan has made a decision contradicting Armenia’s security and its architecture,” the opposition leader said.
