Armenian MP: Iran could be planning major retaliation against Israel
Iran could be meticulously planning major retaliation against Israel for the recent killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh risking an all-out war, Armenian opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan says.
In a social media post on Saturday, he pointed to daily predictions about large-scale Iranian attacks on Israel.
“Although some circles attribute Iran’s delayed retaliation to behind-the-scenes talks, two key factors are more likely to be behind it,” Abrahamyan wrote.
“First, unpredictability underlies the effectiveness of any operation. Iran’s response immediately after the assassination of the Hamas leader would have been highly predictable and easier to counter.
“Second, Iran's delayed strike could be related to its scale, which is thoroughly planned and may not be limited to a localized regional operation and escalate into an all-out war,” the MP added.
