Politician: Armenian prisoners being held in Baku in gross violation of int'l norms
Mane Tandilyan, co-founder of the Country of Living party, has denounced Azerbaijan’s statement regarding Armenian prisoners held in Baku.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry said Baku “has no obligation” to release Armenian prisoners, calling them “criminals”.
"Our compatriots have been abducted by Azerbaijan and are imprisoned in gross violation of international norms, which was also recorded by international organizations,” Tandilyan said in a statement on Wednesday.
“The imprisonment of our compatriots in Baku is exclusively part of Azerbaijan's policy of Armenophobia, which remains in place.
“The government propaganda of hatred towards Armenia and the Armenian people has nothing to do with false claims of peace, and the release of at least Armenian prisoners by aggressor Azerbaijan could provide an opportunity to have any real discussion about peace with Azerbaijan,” reads the statement.
