Belarusian leader: Do you think Armenia is wanted anywhere?
Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko is in favor of maintaining good relations with Armenia. He made the statement as he met with representatives of different nationalities living in Belarus, BelTA has learned.
“It would be good if we had good relations with Armenia, as we used to before, regardless of all the shortcomings and nuances. Believe me, there is no our fault in this situation,” the head of state said. “We tried to help Armenians in every possible way, cooperated with them as the closest people to us. But, you see, they decided to go to the West, to the EU.”
The president called to keep what has been gained in cooperation with traditional partners. “All sorts of things may happen. But do not lose what you have. You have a tomtit in your hand. Do not chase the crane. Let this tomtit be in your hand,” the head of state advised. “Keep this friendship, this brotherhood. This means a single economic market. This means mutual assistance. Keep it, because if you lose it, you may gain nothing there.”
“Do you think Armenia is wanted anywhere? Nobody is waiting for us, neither Belarus, nor Armenia or Ukraine anywhere. Everyone is busy with their own business. They want to solve their problems at the expense of others,” the president said.
“Armenians are very smart people. Very soon they will understand where their happiness lies,” Lukashenko added.
