Ex-ombudsperson: Azerbaijan continues to commit international crimes
Azerbaijan continues to commit international crimes, former Armenian Ombudsperson Larisa Alaverdyan says, adding a number of countries and organizations have acknowledged it in their statements.
Alaverdyan’s comments came at a protest outside the Armenian government calling for diplomatic efforts to ensure the safe return of Armenians displaced from Soviet Azerbaijan, the repatriation of Armenian prisoners from Baku and the preservation of Artsakh’s cultural heritage.
Alaverdyan, who heads the Against Legal Arbitrariness NGO, stressed the need to hold Azerbaijan accountable for war crimes against Armenians and the 2023 genocidal aggression against Artsakh in accordance with international law.
“Armenia must demand punishment for the Azerbaijani leaders for these crimes,” the lawyer said.
