Azerbaijan insists on change of Armenia's constitution

Azerbaijan on Tuesday again refused to sign a peace treaty with Armenia based on provisions both parties had already agreed on.

Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry spokesperson Aykhan Hajizadeh stated that signing a framework peace agreement with Armenia which only included mutually agreed provisions was "unacceptable" and stressed the need to address all outstanding issues, local media reported.

"About 80 percent of the draft treaty has been agreed on so far. The unagreed provisions cannot be simply excluded from it," he was quoted as saying.

Hajizade echoed the Azerbaijani demands for a change of Armenia’s constitution which Baku says contains "territorial claims" against Azerbaijan for the signing of the peace treaty.
