Pyunik to be put up for sale, president says
Pyunik FC President Artur Soghomonyan has announced plans to put the club up for sale and leave professional football in Armenia.
In a video message on Wednesday, Soghomonyan named harassment from the leadership of the Armenian Football Federation as the main reason for his decision.
“Unfortunately, the situation has long gone beyond professional ethics and common sense and turned into a personal conflict, which badly affects the team, its fans, academy and, most importantly, the reputation of Armenian football,” he stated.
“For more than two years, FC Pyunik and I have been fighting against the disorderliness, aggression and incompetence of the Football Federation leaders. Over the past four years, five top league clubs, as well as six major investors, quitted Armenian football, stating that it was impossible to work with the incompetent leadership of the federation. Unfortunately, I’ve come to the same conclusion,” Soghomonyan added.
