Armenian teams remain among leaders at Chess Olympiad
The Armenian national teams remain among the leaders in the 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad, the Chess Federation of Armenia reports.
In the 7th round of the olympiad on Wednesday, the men's team beat the English team with a score of 2.5-1.5.
GM Haik Martirosyan brought the winning point to the team.
The games of GM Shant Sargsyan, GM Gabriel Sargissian and GM Robert Hovhannisyan ended in a draw.
The Armenian men's team shares the 3rd-6th places with the teams of Uzbekistan, Hungary and Serbia. The sole leader is the Indian team, and in the second place is the Iranian team.
In the next 8th round, the Armenian men's team will face the Hungarian team.
The Armenian women's team finished the match with the American team with a score of 2-2.
IM Lilit Mkrtchian and GM Elina Danielian scored victories in the 7th round.
The Armenian women's team shares the 5-14th places with the teams of America, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Bulgaria and the Netherlands. The sole leader is the Indian team, and the teams of Poland, Kazakhstan and France are in the 2nd-4th places.
In the next 8th round, the Armenian women's team will compete with the Mongolian team.
