Artsakh leader deplores Armenian government officials' statements
Artsakh President Samvel Shahramanyan, other Artsakh governmnet officials and lawmakers paid tribute to fallen soldiers at the Yerablur Pantheon in Yerevan on the one-year anniversary of Azerbaijan's 2023 military aggression against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and its takeover.
The officials laid flowers at the memorial to honor all those who died defending Artsakh.
More than 100,000 indigenous Armenians were forced to flee their homes in Artsakh following the Azerbaijani military assault which came as a culmination of a 10-month humanitarian blockade of Artsakh.
Speaking to reporters, Shahramanyan criticized Armenian government officials for statements undermining Artsakh’s status.
“I deeply regret such statements, including by senior government officials, who consider us, the Artsakh people, as guests in Armenia and call Artsakh’s recognition as part of Azerbaijan a victory for Armenia,” the president said.
Separately, he condemned "information terror" targeting the Artsakh Armenians on social media and in the press.
