Opposition MP: Armenian leadership trying to legitimize Artsakh genocide
Opposition Hayastan faction MP Ishkhan Saghatelyan accused Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s government of attempting to legitimize Azerbaijan’s genocidal aggression against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) in 2023 and undermining the Artsakh people’s rights.
“The pro-Turkish leaders in Armenia are making every effort to legitimize Aliyev's genocide in Artsakh and finally close the Artsakh issue,” the MP told reporters at the Yerablur Military Pantheon on 19 September marking the first anniversary of Azerbaijan’s seizure of Artsakh and the forced displacement of its almost entire ethnic Armenian population.
He held the Armenian government responsible for the ethnic cleaning of Artsakh and its casualties.
Saghatelyan, a senior member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, also denounced Pashinyan’s latest statements on the "imperial model of patriotism" as an insult to the memory of all those who fell defending the homeland.
