Opposition MP accuses Armenian security chief of promoting Azeri narratives
Opposition lawmaker Tigran Abrahamyan accused Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan of promoting Azerbaijani narratives attributing Armenia’s achievements and victories to support from Russia.
In his latest interview, Grigoryan said Armenia’s security “failed because we called Moscow whenever facing security threats. There was no other option.”
Abrahamyan, who represents the opposition Pativ Unem faction, denounced the security chief’s remarks as derogatory.
“His statement degrades everything related to the unyielding struggle of our heroes, army, volunteers and the Armenian people, including the first Artsakh war, efforts to repel subversive attacks and the April 2016 war, crediting our successes and achievements to external forces,” the MP wrote on Facebook.
“Moreover, the Security Council secretary has again seized the opportunity to make anti-Russian comments,” he added.
Abrahamyan claimed that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's government posed threats to Armenia’s security and reiterated calls for its ouster “to ensure the protection of the Armenian state, sovereignty and modernization of its security system.”
