A new attempt to reimpose Red notice on Minasyan
Sources within the Armenian government informed Panorama.am that General Prosecutor Anna Vardapetyan has informed to the government that Armenian authorities had send a new request on adding Mikayel Minasyan, the son in-law of former president Serzh Sargsyan, in Interpol database and imposing red notice on him.
Alongside with the former ambassador Minasyan, two new names have been sent to Interpol as an alleged accomplices of Minasyan in order to raise the chances of approving the request. These two names are Armen Petrosyan, Minasyan's classmate and Armenian businessman, and Leonid (Levon) Arevshatyan, famous Armenian composer.
The Armenian authorities' decision to detain Mikayel Minasyan, is likely motivated by recent announcement of plans to form a new political party. This information was reported by the 'Hraparak' newspaper in August. The party, which is expected to include several prominent figures, including a former human rights defender, is a direct response to the prosecutor's office's seemingly hasty actions.
