Ethnic cleansing of Nagorno-Karabakh enabled by world's 'shameful silence', MEP says
Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Miriam Lexmann commemorated the first anniversary of the ethnic cleansing of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) enabled by the world's "shameful silence".
"It’s one year since the ethnic cleansing of Nagorno-Karabakh, enabled by our shameful silence," she posted on X on Friday.
"We can’t forget this tragedy and must continue to insist on accountability for the perpetrators, support for the victims, and protection of Armenian cultural & religious heritage in NK."
Lexmann also responded to a post by Vagif Sadikov, head of the Azerbaijani mission to the European Union, who commented, "Don't worry, you have been 'shamefully silent' about many other things as well."
“Dear Ambassador, you should know that I spoke out against the suffering President Aliyev’s regime caused to the remaining Armenian population of Nagorno Karabakh, but I also spoke vocally about the gross human rights violations of his regime in Azerbaijan,’’ the MEP replied.
