Death toll in Israeli attacks on Lebanon rises to 558
The death toll from Israeli attacks across Lebanon since Monday has risen to 558, including 50 children and 94 women, Al Jazeera reported, citing Lebanon’s Health Minister Firass Abiad.
He added that at least 1,835 people were wounded in Israeli air raids that hit Beirut and southern Lebanon.
Thousands of families have also fled their homes as the Israeli military said it hit 1,600 Hezbollah targets in an operation to destroy infrastructure that the armed group had built up since the 2006 war, the BBC reported.
Hezbollah, meanwhile, launched more than 200 rockets into northern Israel, according to the military. Paramedics said two people were injured by shrapnel.
World powers have been urging restraint as both sides appear to be spiralling closer towards all-out war.
