Armenian MP calls out Aliyev's 'dangerous' statements in parliament
Opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan called Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s remarks on Armenia at the first session of the country’s new parliament on Monday “tough and dangerous”.
“Referring to Armenia's military purchases, Aliyev said that the countries arming Armenia should know that they will be directly responsible for all future developments,” he wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.
“We can only guess what the wording “all future developments” implies but it has absolutely nothing to do with the slogan “there is a future” voiced by the Armenian leader at the UN summit.
“Azerbaijan has been making propaganda and diplomatic efforts for a long time to present Armenia's military purchases as preparation for revenge against Baku, pinning the aggressor label on the incumbent Armenian government.
“In reality, Azerbaijan itself is engaged in large-scale arms acquisitions in an effort to achieve the complete fulfillment of the preconditions put forward to Armenia,” Abrahamyan penned.
